Caring for the Environment

Annie and I are passionate about preserving the environment and finding ways of reducing the impact of our activities upon it. Whilst not certified as organic, we avoid the use of pesticides, herbicides and chemical fertilisers at Ty Parke. You'll notice that we purposely do not trim the banks until late August. As a result they are literally teeming with wildlife. We recycle as much waste as possible - including plastic and encourage our visitors to do likewise. Designated bins are available for glass, tin, plastic, paper as well as organic waste.

The campsite has direct access to our small 'nature trail' that winds through an area of around five acres. We have intentionally left this area for many years (the 'rough' as we call it) to encourage its rich diversity of wildlife. All our visitors are very welcome to explore the trail.

Early in 2007 we planted over 2,500 new trees of mostly native species into another area of about five acres. These are already helping to add further to the diversification of Ty Parke's flora and fauna. In a county that's renowned more for its dramatic coastline than for its trees, we hope to establish small woodland for future generations to enjoy.
